Shared Hosting
For internet applications that do not require the dedicated use of an entire server, we offer shared access on a Data Cartage server. All shared servers run the most recent stable (or production) release of FreeBSD, Apache with PHP support, Qmail with vpopmail, spamassassin, and MySQL. All hosting servers are routinely backed up offsite with hourly, daily, and weekly snapshots.

Streaming Audio Service
There are three pricing variables associated with streaming audio type
media over the internet:
The single most important factor in the cost of streaming audio is the number of simultaneous listeners you want to support. The second most important consideration is sound quality. What do your listeners require? If the audience is satisfied with mp3 or FM broadcast radio than streaming audio is an efficient medium for broadcast. Classical music requires higher sampling rates and higher stream rates to achieve listener satisfaction. It is also advisable to provide a combination of stream speeds to accommodate different connection such as cable, DSL, T1 or even dial up.
Another important consideration is the source device. A Data Cartage portal server accepts incoming
streams for redelivery to multiple listeners. A an audio streaming computer is required at the source end as well. Most any PC can be made to accomplish this but Data Cartage can provide exactly what is need especially if the application is a radio station or night club. Data Cartage sells, leases and rents a rack mountable, dedicated machine that accepts standard line inputs and a variety of internet connect options.
Since cable modem upstream rates are variable and unpredictable, DSL or T1 are recommended.
